Healthy Diet = Better Focus

in Blog

One of the key challenges for folks with FastBraiin™ is focusing. While there are a variety of techniques and tools that can be adopted to address concentration hurdles, one fundamental practice can set a good foundation for fighting the shiny butterfly.

Quite simply, it is diet.

Sure there are some foods that FastBraiiners should avoid like sugary snacks, but here are some simple guidelines to better eating (and better focus).  After all, a healthy diet for ADHD kids is one of the easiest ways to improve focus.

  1. Eat a high-protein diet.  This could include beans, cheese, eggs, meat, or nuts, for example. Add protein foods in the morning especially.  For after-school snacks, proteins can help improve concentration and possibly increase the time ADHD medications work.
  2. Eat fewer simple carbohydrates, such as candy, corn syrup, honey, sugar, products made from white flour, white rice, and potatoes without the skins.
  3. Eat more complex carbohydrates.  For example, vegetables and some fruits (including oranges, tangerines, pears, grapefruit, apples, and kiwi) are good carbohydrates. Eating complex carbs at night may aid sleep.
  4. Eat more omega-3 fatty acids, such as those found in tuna, salmon, other cold-water white fish, walnuts, Brazil nuts, and olive and canola oil. Omega-3 fatty acids are also available in supplement form.

Nutritional Supplements

One area that has shown some real promise in the FastBraiiner’s diet is supplements. At FastBraiin, our doctors have developed a clinically proven supplement regimen that covers everything from attention & focus to memory boosts to mood support. We believe that our unique blend of active natural ingredients can make up for possible deficiencies in your diet.  One of the key factors that may contribute to ADHD symptoms are precisely those dietary deficiencies.

A healthy diet for ADHD kids — What Else should we consider?

Based on recent studies, the American Academy of Pediatrics now agrees that parents should focus on eliminating preservatives and food colorings from your diets. Some experts recommend that people with ADHD avoid these substances:

  1. Try to avoid foods with artificial colors, especially red and yellow.
  2. Try to avoid food additives such as:
  • Aspartame
  • MSG (monosodium glutamate)
  • Nitrites
